Mixtape Mondays | The Invisible Band

I am writing this post from the English country side, or at least that’s what it looks like from out of the window of this Midlands train to Northampton. I’ve heard a lot about The Roadmender and tonight I am going to see Fran Healy & Co. at this iconic venue.

Travis are probably my favourite band, if I have to pick one. I’ve been listening to them since I was 15, when The Invisible Band came out. As soon as I moved to the UK I literally could not wait to see them live, so when the first gig was announced I made sure to get tickets for it. Who cared if it wasn’t really in the UK, but Ireland? Or that I had never even heard of Kilkee before that day? And what if I had to camp on a beach under freezing weather? Or if I couldn’t even pronounce the name of the festival to save my life! It’s Cois Fharraige by the way, if you want to give it a go. I really didn’t think this through, but it didn’t matter, I was going to see Travis.

I couple of months ago I sort of went through the same thing, although with a bit more knowledge of what I was getting myself into. And this brings me to today. After London gigs sold out within a minute, I read a post from Fran Healy which said something along the lines of “if you missed out, there are still tickets for Northampton”. It was only logical, right?

As it is, having shared with you all of the above, to also share my favourite Travis’ tracks. As most playlists, this is really personal. I often repeat to myself “there is so much world outside the door” as a mantra. It works. I hope you enjoy it! :)
